Tim Tully is a writer, composer, and producer who has contributed in a number of fields. As a writer, he co-authored two books covering the early growth of computer-based music and audio production: With Paul D. Lehrman, he wrote "MIDI for the Professional," Amsco PUblications, 1993; and with David M. Rubin, wrote "The Audible PC," Sybex, 1993. In the 1990s, he wrote numerous articles for several periodicals, including Electronic Musician, Mix, Videography, the New York Times, L.A. Style, and others. In 2002, Tully wrote and produced "The Universe," on DVD, featuring a simulated trip through the cosmos from the Earth to distant galaxies. Using manipulated still images and video produced by NASA; accompanied by a researched and refined narration by Tim Enos; and underscored with an original, neoclassical score by Paul Lehrman and Tim Tully, The Universe displayed and described photographic images of our solar system, and many astronomical objects beyond it, including stars, planetary nebulae, galaxies, gaseous, interstellar nebulae, and white dwarf stars. Produced during the emergence of DVD as a medium for movies, "The Universe" was one of the very first commercial DVDs produced and released by a small, independent studio, Universe Productions. In addition to a portion of the score for The Universe, Tully also composed the music for a DVD movie for children, "Astropuppies in Space."
