Gerd Zimmermann studied his trade at the famed "University for Film -and Television, Konrad Wolf" in Potsdam-Babelsberg. Already Gerd's only second Production - "Jakob the Liar" - at "Defa Studio for Feature Films", earned an Academy Award Nomination ( "Oscar" ) for "Best Foreign Feature". Still, "The Iron Curtain" became too "confining" for Gerd; his dramatic escape attempt to "the West" failed, though, and instead he found himself for 2 years behind the walls of a "Stasi Prison" in East Germany. Eventually "sold" as a Political Prisoner to West Germany, Gerd Zimmermann quickly accelerated in his field in the West as well. This, ultimately, caught the attention of "Procter & Gamble", who hired Gerd Zimmermann to oversee their TV-Commercial-Production, first in the German Market, and soon for "P & G's" American advertising production, out of Cincinnati, Ohio. But again, Gerd found Cincinnati "too small" for his ambitions. So, he moved to Los Angeles, achieving his goal to establish himself as one of the most experienced "International Producers", producing American / German / and International Co-Productions (Theatricals as well as TV) in about every State of the USA, and in places literally around the World, as far away as Samoa / Papua New Guinea / Vietnam / Oman / Myanmar / to name just a few ...
