Possessed with the desire to be a storyteller, Skaie Knox began writing original songs at the age of 12. She was influenced by a diverse collection of artists and bands such as Ella Fitzgerald, Sammy Davis Jr., Bette Midler, Fleetwood Mac, David Bowie and the Pretenders (to name a few) which shaped not only her timeless vocal style, but her ability to paint a picture with music and lyrics. Skaie also studied violin and guitar and sang in choirs throughout her school years. In high school, she began performing with pop/rock bands and later landed a developmental deal with Geffen Records. She went on to sign with two independent labels, and completed successful tours of the Western United States, Canada, and Africa, which included universities and popular venues. Skaie has opened for many artists including Tori Amos, Dishwalla, Lilith Faire, and Stephen Bishop. She has also placed songs in film - Holiday Baggage (Hallmark Channel), American Crime, Black Dahlia Returns and Any Other Friday; television - Stumptown (ABC), Supergirl (CW), American Horror Story 1984 (FX), The Americans (FX), A Girlfriend's Guide to Divorce (Bravo), Making the Video, Punk'd, Road Rules, Extreme Challenge, The Real World (MTV), and wrote original music and music directed live theatre in Hollywood, California - Shakespeare's "Midsummer Night's Dream" and "Twelfth Night". Skaie's additional commercial work has included recording jingles and voice overs (Costcutters, DiggersList, RCG Financial, RockTalk), as well as writing, recording, and performing vocal tracks for music houses for television and film (Red Dog Music, First Seed Productions). Currently, Skaie is signed to Fervor Records and continues her quest for telling stories through writing original songs for film and television, integrating new and fresh sounds.
