Chris Van Etten enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2009. While deployed to Afghanistan, his battalion entered one of the most dangerous areas for U.S. forces. On June 13, 2012, Chris and his squadron were out on night combat patrol on a hill overlooking an Afghani village when an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated. During the response effort, a second IED detonated, severely injuring Chris and resulting in the loss of his legs. Not one to be defeated by circumstance, Chris has parlayed his life experience into acting, modeling and motivational speaking.
