Sharon Speer is a NY based character and comedic actress. She grew up in Bridgeport, CT in an Irish Catholic family and is the 11th child of 13 children born to Thomas and Kathleen Speer. Entertainment and laughter were a norm in the Speer household and that's where Sharon picked up her ability for imitations, accents and character work. After receiving her B.A. in Speech Communications from Southern Connecticut State University (New Haven), Sharon moved to Boston and became a top-notch Executive Assistant working for the big cheeses in corporate America in various industries such as health care, investment consulting, cable television and advertising. While in Boston, Sharon got bit by the acting bug and began doing student films at Boston University, Harvard University and Emerson College, where she had the honor to be directed by Kevin Bright (a director of the TV show "Friends") who helped students create comedic shorts. As a strong character actress, Sharon excels in both comedy and drama. She often plays authoritative characters while bringing strength, humor and compassion to any role. On the comedy side, Sharon is often compared to Tracy Ullman or Kristin Wig for her incredible array of sketch comedy characters, funny impressions and love for wigs and accents. Some of her recent on-camera roles include playing a fair Child Protective Services agent in the indie "Model" which was nominated for best film in several international film festivals and won the Best Emerging Director award in the Asian American International Film Festival. Sharon played a fun, middle-class wife in the indie "Circuit" which won Best Film at the Rhode Island Film Festival. In the compelling film "Manic Kat" Sharon played a struggling hairdresser who is fighting for her daughter's mental health. In addition to TV/Film, Sharon has an extensive commercial resume having done work for MassMutual, PillPack, Revitive, and Fisher Investments just to name a few. Recently she was in an international PSA campaign for Down Syndrome visibility which received over 50 million views on social media and won a "gold idea" Andy Award from the Advertising Club of New York. Sharon loves to entertain kids, organize parties, play ping pong and spread joy wherever she goes.
