Cinthia Varela was born in Buenos Aires on June 13, 1987. After graduating high school in 2004, she began her studies as a filmmaker at Universidad Del Cine. Her first short film in 16 mm, Ingrid (2006), was selected for several festivals (Milano Film Festival, Guadalajara Film Festival, L'Alternativa, among others) and received a special mention in the contest La Mujer Y El Cine (Women and Film). In 2008, she completed her second short film, The Sand (2009) (35 mm). She also worked in the editing of the feature film, La mirada febril (2008) (directed by Rafael Filippelli) shown in the X Buenos Aires Independent Film Festival. In addition, she was invited to participate in the third edition of Buenos Aires Talent Campus. In 2010 she directed an episode of the collective feature film Cinco (Five) and received an award for best script at Tarapacá Film Festival (Chile). In 2017 she directed the short film "El Espacio Entre" (The Space Between) and received an award for Best Female Filmmaker at Shortcut 100 Film Festival (Chicago). In 2022 she directed the short film "Caradeloca" (Crazyface) based on a short story she previously published.
