Frances Barth was born in the Bronx and has been a New York-based visual artist since the 60s. In the last 15 years, she has written and directed short films, documentaries, narrative films, and animated films. She published her first graphic novel, Ginger Smith and Billy Gee, in 2017 which was derived from her paintings and later expanded into a script and performed at Silas Von Morisse gallery in 2018. Her first animation, End of the Day, End of the Day (2007) was also scripted and presented at Triangle Artists in 2019 with 2 actors and video projection. Her film Dreaming Tango (2020) premiered in New York at Anthology Film Archives in August 2020 and won Best Experimental Short at the Cannes Short Film Festival. Frances' most recent film Cock Robin (2023) was a winner at the New York Movie Awards in Comedy. Frances has studied film history, cinematography, editing, and producing at School of Visual Arts and received a certificate in Film/TV from New York University. She's also a member of the Filmmakers Cooperative in New York City.
