Deena Knight is the mother of three children, VP of Assist by Knight Foundation, and volunteers to the Salvation Army's Center of Hope. The Assist by Knight Foundation is to inspire the youth of today to strive for a brighter tomorrow through the development of scholarships. It is focused on initiatives on disadvantaged youth. Through their Foundation, Deena and her husband, began building a library at the Salvation Army's Center of Hope, a homeless shelter for women and children here in Mecklenburg County. The Knight's renovated that corner into a full children's library, with fresh paint, new ceiling tile, inspirational material, and a hope for the future. Deena has been dedicated to a program that will enhance the learning opportunities of the homeless children in the shelter. This renovation converted what was a storage space in the corner of the facility into a children's library that will enhance wonder and learning. She has continued to visit The Salvation Army Women and Children Homeless Shelter, now bringing along her 3 children to set an example of helping those less fortunate.
