Growing up in the small town of Wheatland, California, Oscar had dreams of moving out to the big city of Hollywood. An interest in the film industry was evident in his high school years. He attended high school at the Academy for Career Education. After high school, Oscar attended community college at Yuba College. There, he completed his first short film Stranger (2006), which garnered him the college's recognition of Best Achievement in Directing. After the semester ended, Oscar applied and was accepted at The Los Angeles Film School in Hollywood. In March of 2008, Oscar graduated from The Los Angeles Film School. Oscar's short film Prelude (2008) screened at the 61st Annual Cannes Film Festival at the Short Film Corner. It completed its festival circuit in 2009.
