Andrea Gutsche was raised in rural Saskatchewan and urban Ontario, Canada. She was co-owner of Lynx Images Inc. (1994-2005) a production company and publishing house dedicated to making history feel alive and relevant through human stories, often using ghost towns and other abandoned sites to show how remnants of the past are present in every day life. Lynx Images was on History Television's coveted 'A List' of production companies, and was an innovator, bringing DVDs into the bookstore retail market by packaging books and films together. She has nine award-winning documentaries that have aired nationally in Canada and in the United States on PBS. Her knack for telling the human story behind history made her a returning guest on CBC radio. In 2005 she was one of eight directors accepted to the Canadian Film Centre for directing drama. Her 2008 short film Loving Loretta was invited to 33 festivals from London, England to Mumbai India, winning awards for direction, and nominated by the actors union (ACTRA) for Best Performance of a Leading Female, 2009. As a screenwriter she won the Jim Burt Award for Best Unproduced Screenplay.
