One of America's most prolific food and travel journalists, Janice Wald Henderson has been published more than 1,000 times. A longtime contributor to Bon Appétit, she has also written for Vogue, German Vogue, Food & Wine, Cooking Light, Eating Well, Brides, Islands, The Robb Report, Wine Enthusiast and numerous other magazines, including in-flights such as USAir and Continental. Both the New York Times and Los Angeles Times Syndicates have syndicated her features. Her writing is also found on the Web at such illustrious sites as newyorktimes.com, cnn.com, epicurious.com and fodors.com. With more than 20 years experience as senior editor of Chocolatier magazine, she is hailed as a chocolate expert and guest-lectures worldwide. Janice authored two cookbooks. The New Cuisine of Hawaii, with an introduction by superstar chef Nobu Matsuhisa, featured chefs like Roy Yamaguchi and Alan Wong, had four printings and topped the nonfiction best-seller charts at WaldenBooks Hawaii. Reviews appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Associated Press and Bon Appétit, among many publications. Food & Wine called it the book that altered "forever the rest of the world's perceptions of Hawaiian food." White Chocolate, her first cookbook, was praised in Vogue, Bon Appétit, Redbook and Cosmopolitan. Both cookbooks scored five-star ratings on Amazon.com. Janice has edited, or contributed to, several cookbooks, including Bon Appétit's Buffets, and also, Fodor's Los Angeles and California travel guidebooks. Janice's national television appearances include CNN, Food Network, ABC and PBS. In Los Angeles, she was a restaurant reporter for KCAL-TV and KABC-TV, and a guest on the top-rated "KTLA Morning Show." She has also appeared on Martha Stewart Living Radio. She was the co-creator, program coordinator and mistress of ceremonies for "Cuisines of the Sun," one of the premier culinary events in the country, held annually for 13 years at The Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows in Hawaii. In this capacity, and also as the culinary coordinator for the Visiting Artists Program for David Murdoch's luxury resorts on Lanai, she has worked with superstar chefs such as Bobby Flay, Emeril Lagasse, Mario Batali, Todd English and Charlie Trotter. As a journalist, she has interviewed everyone from the late Julia Child to Wolfgang Puck. She taught one of the few -- and possibly only -- accredited food journalism courses in the country through UCLA Extension. Janice studied culinary arts in France, and speaks fluent French. She is a member of the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA), and is a Sherman Oaks, California resident.
