Matt has written and directed drama, comedy, a US TV documentary series and numerous branded content films. He has also produced over 100 live shows through 'Popcorn Taxi', a popular screen culture event he co-founded in Sydney and Melbourne. Matt has a particular interest in comedy and thriller genres and is currently writing a number of film and TV projects: 'Sleepwalker', a tense psychological thriller, is in the very late stages of development, following consultancies with script editors in London and Sydney. 'Sleepwalker' has been developed with financial support from Screen Australia and the South Australian Film Corporation. The original screenplay was nominated for an AWG AWGIE for 'Best Un-produced Screenplay'. Featuring two powerful female leads, the project is garnering significant interest through the AWG Pathways Showcase initiative (soon launching in LA). 'Mirror Man', a high concept feature film, has also received development support from Screen Australia. Additionally, the project has been championed by Scripted Ink, an initiative of Aussie writer Shane Brennan ('NCIS' Showrunner and AWG President) including support for a 3-week trip to Los Angeles for meetings. 'Even Odds', a romance, is also in development, along with 'Open For Inspection', a low budget rom con. 'Mother Nature' is an epic time travel project at first draft stage. Matt's short 'Blind Date' was acquired for worldwide distribution, screening at festivals and on TV and VOD platforms. Another short 'Just Not Cricket' won Tropfest Second Prize. Matt has also directed numerous branded content films, and is a frequent director on a US documentary/travel series broadcast to 100 million people worldwide. He is the proud recipient of the AFI / AACTA Byron Kennedy Award for "Outstanding creative enterprise within Australian film and television". The award is selected each year by director George Miller ('Mad Max: Fury Road') together with a panel of his industry peers.
