Sebastian Shepherd is the son of a minister and a school teacher. An active member of the church's choir and dramas, he found a love for performance at an early age and began writing screenplays at stories when he was seven. His earliest works are attributed to his birth name (David Jonathan Grant), a few credits fall to a nickname he earned as a well-beloved camp counselor (Sheepdog). At Kent State University, where he earned a bachelors in theater and a minor in English, Sebastian deepened his understanding of literature, writing, and stagecraft. He played roles in several student directed projects as well as main stage works, including as a lovesick Duke in "The Lady from Maxim's" and as the Ghost in "Hamlet." During his junior and senior years of college, he filmed and released his first feature length film, an independent production entitled "Toaster." He had written, produced, and starred-in the film, in addition to editing the opening credits. On April Fool's Day in 2011, Sebastian founded Wolf In Wool Productions and the rap group Chalkskin. The release of their debut album, "Fresh Donuts," marked the official founding of the company and was met with praise. The follow up albums, "Pay Day" (2012) and "The Whitey Album" (2017), found greater acclaim in the local community. Chalkskin has appeared on "1137 Lounge Live," the stage of LA's House of Blues, and at the San Diego Comic Con Nerdcore Show at The Ruby Room (alongside nerdcore staples like MC Lars and MC Frontalot). Other focuses for Wolf In Wool Productions include "The Sheepdog Show," a sketch comedy/chat show; "Chalkskin 10," an interview program that featured such notable guests as William Daniels ("Boy Meets World," "1776") and George R.R. Martin (author of "Game of Thrones"); and several other web-based platforms. Sebastian Shepherd is also the author of a series of books, including "Home Street" and "Sick Day."
