Richard Cordoba began studying music at the boys harbor school of music in new York with Rolando briceño (1983-1993) (Tito Puente, Mario Bauza's Afro Cuban Jazz Orchestra, Henry Threadgill Society Band, Toshiko Akiyoshi Big Band) He studied orchestration at the Mannes School of Music in NY (1986-1987), Jazz arranging with Peter Yellin (1989-1993) (Joe Henderson band, Bob Mintzer Big band, Tito Puente) and was part of the Long Island University Big Band where he blended Colombian folk rhythms with jazz. He studied composition with the saxophonist and composer Chuck Fisher (1993-1996) (Laurie Anderson, Blood Sweat and Tears, Frank Zappa Big band) and with Colombian pianist and composer Pablo mayor (Folklore Urbano). During (2000- 2004) he studied in New York with teachers such as Ron Carter, Tim Ries (Rolling Stones), Mike Holober, Dan Carrillo, Ray Santos, Arturo o'Farrell, David Berkman, Jhon Patittucci and others. It was there that he started writing and recording music professionally for theater, big band and film. In New York he worked for Adam Holzman's brave New World and for the Wallace Roney quartet as a sound engineer during the "miles Davis wall to wall" in symphony space and as a live mixer and recordist. (2001) He was a founding Member of the Colombian Folkloric band "la cumbiamba ENEYE", and Has composed music for Ellen Stewart's "La Mama" theater company for the musical dance piece "9 windows / 9 ventanas" shown at the world renowned Spolettino festival in Umbria, Italy reviewed in the village voice (2002), while at residence in Umbria he also wrote the suite "Menage a trois" for the italian modern dancer Elena Gianotti of the Royal Dance Company. In 2004 he moved to his native Bogotá, Colombia where he started working in film scoring and sound Engineering composing soundtracks such as the feature film "La Sombra del caminante" / The wandering shadows" winner of several awards around the world's film festivals, Winner at San Sebastian's Cine en construction, Tribeca Film Festival, Trieste, Tribes, Toulouse and was nominated to Colombia's Macondo Prize for best Score. The film was shown in New York, England, Wales, Ireland and premiered in Paris. France as L'ombre de Bogota. He has worked as a Composer, Music Supervisor, Sound Designer, live sound mixer , Location Recordist and Postproduction in shorts, medium, and feature films, Documentaries and TV Series. Recently he has finished projects such as "Lo Azul Del Cielo" premiered at the Santa Barbara and Rhode Island Film Festivals 2012 , Also Co-composed the music for the shorts "Under the Sun" by Arcardi Palerm and the Documentary "Azul Intangible" Directed by Erendira Valle Padilla. He also did location recordings for the British Documentary "Aluna" Directed by Allan Ereira of the BBC, and score mixing and production for Edificio Royale Dir. By "Ivan Wild".
