Philip grew up in San Dimas, CA home of Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. During high school, he and his friends Christian Hartnett and Justin Dillon started a local cable television show about baseball, called Baseball Talk. The show ran for three years and aired over 140 weekly episodes during that time. After attending Damien High School in La Verne, he decided to go to film school for his undergraduate studies. Philip attended Loyola Marymount University. There he traveled around the world to such places as Switzerland, Mexico, and India to shoot documentaries. After graduating in May of 2011, Philip worked at Participant Media as a video editor. He edited short documentaries.
