Donaldo Prescod is a Panamanian American born in Boston, Mass. Immediately after birth he quickly moved to Germany for five years, then back to Boston, then over to California. He now resides in New York City. Before attending the film program at SFSU Donaldo rented out the Osio Cinema in Monterey, California to premiere his blaxsploitation film Black Thunder: America's Most Hated Crime Fighter. With a lifelong dream of having his movie title appear on a marquee, on January 18, 2003 this dream was accomplished. While living in California he has appeared in productions of Lend Me A Tenor, an original production of Travels with Charley, Angels in America, Museum, and Burn This. Being accepted into the MFA program at The New School for Drama brought Donaldo to New York City. And spending 3 years immersed in a conservatory-based program studying under instructors such as Ron Leibman, Nova Thomas, Marcia Haufrecht, and Barbara Poiter, this expanded his craft and techniques of becoming a better actor. Other instructors include Jean Taylor (clowning), Ragnar Friedank (Michael Chekhov), and Tom Vasiliades (Alexander Technique). Since living in New York City productions of Richard III, Orestes 2.0, Pinter's Celebration, and Tony Kushner's The Illusion can be added to his roster. Original productions include A New Shade of Red, which premiered at Playwrights Horizon, A Ninth Time at the Cherry Lane Theatre, The Wundelsteipen (and other difficult roles for young people) by Nick Jones, and Patrick's Story, written by Golden Globe winner Patrick Bradstreet. After grad school Donaldo joined The BATS, two-time OBIE award winning Flea Theater's resident acting company. To start things off he acted and co-wrote The Connectors with Seth Moore for the late night episodic #Serials@theFLEA, Dumb Shows with Charlotte E. Simpson, and performed in an original production of Future Anxiety directed by Jim Simpson. Other performances include: The Recommendation (Craig Noel Award, Best New Play, 2014 Ovation Best Play) by Jon Caren, and The Feast by Cory Finley, directed by Courtney Ulrich. As a playwright he received an award for his short play The Commoners from the Fringe Festival in Marin. Other original works include Patterns, which premiered at the SRO Theater in Monterey, and the collaboration piece God In The Machine. He has also written numerous plays for the late night episodic #serials@theflea including The 1's and 2's, now a full length which had its NY premiere at The Tank, and 2014 semifinalist for the Eugene O'Neill center's National Playwright Conference.
