Won a national AAU championship in the 400 meters as a 10-year-old. Parents, Alan and Kim, are lifelong farmers who opened Nelson's Landing, a sports bar/restaurant in Leonardville, Kansas in 2007. Growing up, his family had season tickets to Kansas State football.
