Vincent DeSalvo was born in Louisville, Kentucky and began his career as a documentary writer, working most notably for the Washington Post chain of television stations, where he wrote, produced and directed numerous news and historical documentaries. His documentaries have earned him two local Emmys as well as a Gavel Award and the Clara Barton Medal. In the mid 1980s he temporarily switched from documentary to commercial production and direction. Known for his mastery of extreme action, he directed countless commercials for the automotives, high tech and beverage companies. This led to work as a 2nd unit director on numerous t.v. dramas. In the mid 1990s, he returned to school to study screenwriting at UCLA. This led him to a continuous flow of work as a script doctor, fixing, polishing and re-writing numerous feature films. He continues to keep his hand in the documentary world, his first love, but is also developing a number of original scripted and reality television shows.
