Jai Kumar Nair embarked on his dance journey at a tender age of 10. The praise he received for his performances at cultural events ignited a realization that dance was his true passion. Coming from humble beginnings, his path was far from easy. However, fueled by a burning desire and unwavering determination, he set out to pursue his dreams. Soon, he found himself sharing the stage with his mentor, traveling across the country and even internationally to perform alongside seasoned professionals. This bolstered his confidence and he continued to showcase his talent, always striving for excellence. At the age of 15, in 1999, he received formal training at Shiamak Davar's Institute for the Performing Arts. Working tirelessly, he quickly made strides in his career. By 2001, he was selected as an instructor by Shiamak Davar himself, teaching and assisting at his dance school in Mumbai and Delhi. From there, there was no turning back. In 2003, he decided to venture into freelance dancing, collaborating with renowned Bollywood choreographers such as Tobby Fernandes, Pony Verma, Pappu Malu, and Ganesh Hegde. In 2005, he established his own dance school in Santacruz, Mumbai, India. His breakthrough moment arrived in 2007 when he clinched the prestigious Boogie Woogie Mahayudh Solo Championship. This marked the beginning of his remarkable journey, leading him to participate in India's biggest dance reality show, Dance India Dance Season 1, in 2009. He emerged as one of the finalists, securing a place among the top four dancers in the country. This achievement propelled him into the global spotlight, and since then, he has never looked back. He went on to serve as a mentor in various dance shows, including DID Lil Masters in 2010 and DID Super Moms in 2013. He graced the stages of Dance Ke Superstars and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa in seasons 4, 5, 8, and 9, where he choreographed esteemed actors such as Renuka Shahane, Sanaya Irani, Helly Shah, and mentored talents like Darsheel Safary and Avneet Kaur. Additionally, he had the honor of judging a national television dance reality show, Dance Kerala Dance, on Zee Kerelam Channel. Considering these accomplishments as milestones in his dance journey, Jai Kumar Nair now takes his passion further with the Jai Kumar Dance Institute. His aim is to train and inspire dance enthusiasts from all walks of life. For him, dance is not only about performance but also about finding personal joy and sharing it with others.
