Gaining notoriety as a recording artist in Miami's underground music scene but failing to achieve mainstream success, Andres "Dre" Torres moved to Los Angeles in 2008 to learn filmmaking. Opting to take a three month course rather than a two year program, Dre learned the basics of editing and cinematography and immediately started creating his own projects. Since then, Andres has directed several short films, music videos, and documentaries, and written three feature length screenplays, including "The Cleanup Boys", which was optioned by Vision Entertainment Group in 2011. He has also collaborated with Cuban actor/producer Tony Cortes to produce several nationally televised Spanish-language mini series, including "Ecuador 2012" "El Infierno de los Balseros" and "Sobre Mis Pasos". In 2011, Dre was nominated for two Emmy awards as a cinematographer under the categories Best Historical Cultural Program News Chapter Robaina and Best News Program in Politics and Government Chapter "Mariel" of the 2011 Emmy Awards Suncoast Chapter. In 2013, Andres co-founded Mangas Films along with frequent collaborator Alex Valdes, and, together they produced and released the hidden-camera documentary "The Last Taino".
