Bal Kumar is a hard working, ambitious, driven producer/director with a vision to create a diverse range of high concept commercial feature films for international audiences. Since the year 2000 he has been developing a successful career in film production, in parallel with his educational career as a film academic and lecturer. Beginning with the short film "Heartless" (2001) which was screened at the Edinburgh International film festival. Next he produced and directed "Good Time Token" (2002) again a film that was screened at both national and international film festivals. Two years later he returned with the 40 minute emotional drama "Showtime". (2004) At this point his work was being well received by critics and audiences alike. Three years on he returned with his gritty drama as writer/ director on "Mothers Journey" (2007) with the opportunity to work with established actor Nitin Ganatra (Bride and Prejudice, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) in the lead role, it was a film that would screen around the world on the festival circuit. From this point on he then became involved in feature films on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. His first feature film project was Paul Andrew William's dark comedy "The Cottage" (2008) supporting the film during the shooting phase. Following on from this he became an associate producer on dark arthouse picture, Richard E. Grant starrer "Cuckoo" (2011) raising finance for the project during the production process to ensure its completion. His next project was Christian Slater science fiction film "Stranded" (2013) again for the purposes of raising finance for the production. Once completed the film has been released internationally in many territories around the world.
