Eric Pauls is a writer, director, and composer based in Calgary. He likes to explore existential themes and create observational character studies. He began his film career making both narrative and documentary shorts, then wrote, directed, and composed the score for his debut feature film To the Mountain. The film played in several festivals, had a successful theatrical run in Canada, was sold all over the world, including to HBO, and was named a Standout Discovery by iTunes. The National Post called it "Wistful Poignancy". Since then, he has directed the experimental documentary entitled Rosebud, Alberta which premiered at the 2019 Edmonton International Film Festival. His screenplay Lament has been shortlisted for the Sundance Writers Lab, the Austin Film Festival Writers Competition, and he was invited to take part in Content Canada's "Alberta Producers Accelerator Program". All of this is a result of a passionate dedication to the craft of writing and the art of filmmaking.
