Curtis Cooknell was born in Edmonton, Alberta and raised in Ontario. Curtis knew he wanted to be a part of film and television ever since he was 5 years old. His dream to work in the industry has become a reality. During high school, Curtis got his first video camera. In the fall of 1998, Curtis wrote, produced and directed his first film, a short titled A Snowy December. Curtis has spend years developing and continuing to create his own projects through Small Crew Productions, including feature films, music videos, documentaries and a television pilot. Curtis attended college studying Digital Film & Television Production. After graduating in July 2004, he was ready to head out into the working world and begin gaining more experience in the industry. He started volunteering at Rogers Television in Durham Region in December 2005, where he had the opportunity to work all positions including ENG Operator/News Editor, Teleprompter, Studio Camera Operator, Floor Director and Live Eye Camera Operator. He was also given the opportunity to switch and direct for both live and pre-taped TV. After spending 2 years at Rogers Television, Curtis left to work on different projects and expand his knowledge. Over the years, Curtis has worked with Bee Telefilms as a Grip on a feature film, Marwood Forest Productions as a Camera Operator on a short film, Helie Film Support as a Location Production Assistant on the ABC TV series, Happy Town, and the feature film, Dream House; Digital Samurai as a Production Assistant for Auto Show TV 2010; BizClip as a Videographer shooting commercials for local businesses; Camp Green Acres as a Videographer/Editor shooting the camp video year book; ThatChannel.com as a Tricaster Technician and Corus Entertainment as a Broadcast Production Content Operator. Curtis has also been teaching Television Production at a private career college since 2011 and has been enjoying every moment being a part of Trebas. He loves being able to pass on his knowledge to a new set of students who are getting ready to head out into the workforce.
