Helga Berry

Series Producer and Director with credits spanning two decades on Bafta and RTS Award winning series for UK and International broadcasters in Factual, Documentary and Specialist Factual genres. Helga began her career at the BBC in 1995 as an Assistant Editor before moving into Studio and Location Direction for the BBC News. Entering the freelance industry in 2000, she went on to producer and direct for leading indie producers including Tigress, Endemol, Optomen, Wall to Wall and Two Four. In 2008 she spent a year as Head of Production and Series Producer for West Australia's premier independent producer, Prospero where amongst her achievements she oversaw the production and delivery of award winning ob doc series Navy Divers (ABC1) and the critically acclaimed drama documentary 'Every Family's Nightmare' (which charted tone family's battle in securing the acquittal of their 15 year old boy wrongly accused of rape). Since returning to the UK, she has focussed on bringing new commissions from pitch to screen as Showrunner and Director and working with teams to re-imagine and refresh existing formats. The resulting work has led her to be recognised as part of the Bafta and RTS award winning team behind 'DIYSOS The Big Build' - one the BBC1's consistently high rating and most loved formats. Most recently, her work has taken her in the direction of conservation documentary filmmaking - bringing together her passion for story-telling and a love of the natural world.
