Vanessa Mariveles is a multi-faceted creative artist who has a background in film, music and design. After receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Motion Pictures from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, she dove into entrepreneurship producing numerous shorts and marketing videos. The shorts she produced Renouncing Angelica (2009) and Habitual Aggression (2011) have gone through the international film festival circuit, winning numerous awards and showcasing at the Cannes Court Métrage. Taking a break from film she decided to exercise her passions in DJing and music producing under the moniker Mar1po5a. Growing up in the Silicon Valley, she was fascinated by technology and wanted to learn about coding and design which led to her career as a UX/UI designer. Her design job at Borrowlenses brought her back full circle into filmmaking with the realization of the LGBTQ+ focused stories she wants to tell and share with the world. The first short she directed, Bi-curious Sleepover (2019) won Best LGBT Short at the Play Short International Film Awards and at the Asian Cinematography Awards.
