Jose Jones "J.J." Castillo is a is a former Rooster Teeth employee, who was in charge of RT Recap and various live action projects. Before this, he was the editor of the Achievement Hunter's "Let's Build" series. He also hosted Rooster Teeth's film podcast Screen Play and was the voice actor for Mercury Black for the animated TV series RWBY before he left Rooster Teeth and Yuri Lowenthal took over the role. He also suggested the full name for the character. J.J. was previously in charge of the RT Recap and various live action projects at Rooster Teeth Productions. He was also the editor of Achievement Hunter's Let's Build series and hosted the weekly film and television podcast, Screen Play, as well as a feature-length documentary for Rooster Teeth. Screen Play went on hiatus after 23 episodes with the show being possibly considered for renewal or to be replaced. It was subsequently cancelled with such topics being taken over by the Rooster Teeth Podcast and Sponsor Cast. J.J. confirmed his departure from Rooster Teeth on January 16, 2015. On his final post on his RT profile page, he thanked both the staff and fans for a wonderful time at Rooster Teeth. Despite leaving the company and RWBY, he has stated that he would still live in Austin, Texas and still attend RTX. After leaving Rooster Teeth inn January 2015, he now serves as the Founder and Developer of Viewer Ready, an independent filmmaker, creator of Film Geek Army and VR game Pitch-Hit. His new job consists of Producing Virtual Reality and 360 content. Their 1 project (April 2015 - May 2015) is a MONDO 360 GALLERY and it interacts with the 360 Gallery by viewing on a smartphone or online using the CHROME browser. Jose Jones Castillo was born on March 20, 1974 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He spent his childhood in front of a VCR, in his teenage years he saved up for his first digital 8 camera with money from a busboy job, from 16-18 years old he produced and hosted a public access show in the Corpus Christi area that ran commercials and had musical guest. For his education, he attended Texas State Technical College (TSTC) from 2002 until graduating in 2004. It's a technical school where he learned and studied on producing digital content and Digital Imaging Technology. He then moved to Austin, Texas and started directing music videos and commercials. Starting his career Pre-Rooster Teeth, he worked as an On-Air Talent/Camera/Editor/Producer at ME Television for 2 years and 7 months from October 2005 until April 2008. He was given first a full time job as an editor and camera operator for ME TELEVISION. At Me Television, he hosted the shows "Airwaves" and the Midnight Rock and Roll Show "Red River Rocks". He also worked as a Cameraman and Editor for other shows, including mine. After leaving ME Television, worked for many years doing freelance production for clients and ad agencies, Then, he worked as the Head of the Video Department at Trigger Point Technologies for 1 year and 5 months from November 2010 until March 2012. His job there consisted of Organize On-Location, and In-Studio shoots/Edits for online and DVD use. He then served as the Owner/Shooter/Editor/Producer/Director of Jose Jones Films for 8 years and 10 months from April 2008 until leaving on January 2015. Jose Jones Films specializes in Legal Videos, Tutorials, Industrials, Screen Capture Edits, Music Videos, EPKs, Promos, Commercials (Web and TV), and anything else video. Later, he worked as a Director/Producer/Editor/Shooter/Voice Actor at Rooster Teeth Productions, a media company based in Austin, Texas Area for 2 years and three months from November 2012 until he left the company on January 16, 2015 where he worked as an editor on Achievement Hunter - SHORTS - RT PODCAST - IMMERSION - Web Content - DVD Content - Commercial Client Content. He was well known for his interesting supplements to the Let's Build videos he edited and his odd sense of humor in general. He announced at the end of "Let's Build in Minecraft - The Twelve Towers" that it would be his last video with Achievement Hunter. He continued to produce live-action Rooster Teeth series and hosted Rooster Teeth's TV and film podcast Screen Play for its entire run. He portrayed Mercury Black in RWBY and also provided a minor speaking role in X-Ray and Vav as a passerby. J.J. confirmed his departure from Rooster Teeth on January 16, 2015. Now formerly of Rooster Teeth, he left the company in order to become an independent filmmaker. He also left in order to move on in life, try something new and start fresh, chase and follow his dreams of becoming an independent filmmaker, VR Developer, Creator of Film Geek Army & VR game Pitch-Hit. He also left to focus all of his time and resources on VIRTUAL REALITY technology. He started VIEWER READY, an Austin (Texas Area) based company to create VR and 360 content for brands and apps. Since January 2015 to present date, he serves as the Founder of Viewer Ready where the company is Producing Virtual Reality and 360 content.
