Sergey Oldenburg is a Russian filmmaker and was born on 13 June 1957 in Tatar city of Kazan. Graduated from Kazan's Tupolev Aviation Institute (1981), specializing as engineer-designer of flying engines. In 1989 graduated from the cinematography department of the Film Institute VGIK, workshop of Aleksandr Galperin. At VGIK attended the classes of the directors' workshop of Marlen Khutsiev. After graduation engaged in photography, book publishing and scriptwriting.
