Damilola Odusote is known for his eclectic, intricate illustrative work and abstract paintings. His artworks are a running narrative of his conscious and subconscious mind which challenge one's perception of everyday life. Damilola works predominantly in graphic ink, spray paint, acrylics and sculpture. Raised just outside of London, He graduated from Camberwell College of Arts with a BA Hons in illustration. Damilola draws from numerous forms of expression, to expand his creative repertoire. In particular, he found that dance choreography mirrored his illustrations, both requiring the same degree of intricacy and narrative. Upon graduating, he embarked on a freelance career, continually refining and contextualizing his style Damilola's illustrations are organic and grow on the surface as he produces them. He is influenced by the likes of MC Escher and David Shrigley for the detail and humour in their deep thought provoking drawings. Damilola's inspired greatly by the aesthetics of geometry and texture, and also contextualized issues rooted in politics, race, and indeed the London environment. He continues to push the scale and boundaries of his art, and is currently incorporating more2D / 3D elements as well as animation, video and interactive technology into his drawings and collaborating with other creatives on sculptural / Installation projects.
