Born and raised in Manhattan Beach, California, Gavin Heaney is a graduate of Mira Costa High School (Manhattan Beach) and the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he received a B.A. in Literature. A talented singer and prolific songwriter, Heaney is also a multi-talented instrumentalist who plays every instrument of each of his recordings, including: guitar, bass, piano, mandolin, drums and harmonica. He records and performs under the pseudonym "Latch Key Kid". "Latch Key Kid" has independently produced and recorded three albums, the eponymous "Latch Key Kid," (2005); "Miracle Mile," (2008); and "All Becomes One," (2009). His fourth album is scheduled for an August 2010 release. Gavin Heaney has toured throughout the U.S. and Canada, both as a solo and touring with such acts as Jack Johnson, John Butler Trio, Donovan Frankenreighter, Beautiful Girls, The Wailers, Sublime and others. He has also had phenomenal global licensing success. His music has been featured in scores of television shows, commercials and feature films. "Latch Key Kid's" breakout song "Good Times" was used in the opening of the DreamWorks hit comedy "I Love You, Man" as well as its soundtrack album; in advertisements and the soundtrack album for the hit Australian drama "Packed To The Rafters;" in the highly acclaimed 2008 Coca-Cola commercial, "Jinx;" and in a one-minute short film entitled "Dave Knoll Finds His Soul," featuring Heroes star Masi Oka, and directed by Milo Ventimiglia. Other Heaney songs have been featured in Scrubs, America's Funniest Home Videos, The Hills, Ghost Whisperer, Degrassi, Disney's Skyrunners, FX's The League, FuelTV and many more. Gavin Heaney independently produces all his albums, but recently signed a distribution deal for "All Becomes One," which was released in Australia and New Zealand through Warner Music Australia. Gavin Heaney will be touring the east coast of Australia in the summer of 2010. An avid and experience surfer, Heaney has traveled the world surfing and plans to spend his non-performing time in Australia surfing as many of its beaches as possible. When not surfing, writing and recording, Heaney spends as much time as possible performing for and aiding charitable causes close to his heart, including "Life Rolls On," an group aiding young people with spinal chord injuries, and Music For Relief, an organization devoted to natural disaster relief and prevention.
