Tess Du Cray, a.k.a. Tess Liu, was born in 1979 in Shandong, China. After 10 years in a variety of jobs she eventually became a sales and marketing executive for an American firm, responsible for the Northern China market, at age of 26. In 2009, she moved to LA to study acting. She subsequently came back to Beijing to start her career in the film industry. She landed her first job as an actress in 'The Karate Kid', produced by Will Smith and directed by Harald Zwart. She subsequently worked as an actress on a number of independent shorts and feature films, all directed by Western directors. Her experience as an actor and her ability to work in multi-cultural environments - she is fluent in English, Chinese and French, provided her with the opportunity to work in a number of international co-productions. From 2012, Tess produced short films such as: 'Heat Wave', 'A Part Apart' and 'Sans Vinegar' which was also her directorial debut.
