Georg Kindel was born in 1968 in Vienna, studied law and worked as a journalist. At the age of 22 he became Europe's youngest editor-in-chief at Rennbahn Express, Austria's leading music magazine. With his own music production company, based in Vienna, he produced various artists including U.S. rap star Vanilla Ice. At the age of 24 he was member of the founding team of News, Austria's leading news magazine, comparable with Time and Newsweek. In 1999 he wrote his first best-selling book "Der Mann 2000" (in the U.S. "Men's Health & The Hormone Revolution") which was translated in 19 languages. His last #1 bestselling-book was "Der Welt-Geist" ("The World Spirit") in 2018 that he has written together with Dr. Roger D. Nelson from Princeton University, founder of the Global Consciousness Project. In 2000, Kindel founded The World Awards as an honor for men of peace and established the awards together with Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Mikhail Gorbachev, the last President of the Soviet Union who ended the Cold War and brought freedom to millions of people. Since 2001 the World Awards television specials have been broadcast throughout the world. Among the award winners who appeared on stage to personally accept the prestigious honor are Michael Douglas, Ted Turner, Simon Wiesenthal, Morgan Freeman, Luciano Pavarotti, Richard Branson, Paul McCartney, and J. Craig Venter. In 2004 he and Mikhail Gorbachev presented the first Women's World Awards in Hamburg, Germany conceived as an annual global honor for extraordinary women. The 2006 Women's World Awards from New York City had John Cossette (The Grammy Awards) and Georg Kindel as executive producers. In the first decade of the 21st century, the Women's World Awards evolved into the world's leading awards for women, broadcast annually in more than 50 countries around the globe, reaching more than 500 million people via television, print media, radio and the Internet. The 2009 Women's World Awards in Vienna, Austria were hosted by H.M. Queen Noor of Jordan. Among the award winners are Whoopi Goldberg, Susan Sarandon, Ingrid Betancourt, Benazir Bhutto, Monica Bellucci, Whitney Houston, Lucy Liu, Teri Hatcher, Donatella Versace, Angela Missoni, Claudia Schiffer, Diane Kruger, Dionne Warwick, Anastacia, Betty Williams, Shana Dale, Marilyn Carlson Nelson, Kelly Clarkson, and Mary J. Blige. In 2009 Kindel founded the Save The World Awards as an honor for people and organizations working toward a sustainable and livable future. The one-time show on July 24th, 2009 was staged at the Nuclear Power Plant Zwentendorf in Austria, the only nuclear power plant in the world which was completely built but mothballed before it was ever put into operation, because the people of Austria said no to atomic energy in their country. This pioneering television show, utilizing an outer wall of the power plant as the world's largest screen, was hosted by Andie MacDowell, with Carl Lewis, Greenpeace and Michael Jackson (posthumously) among the award winners. His brother Jermaine, who performed the song "Smile" on stage, accepted this special award in Michael's honor. The television special was produced by Georg Kindel and Christian Baha. Kindel has been producer/executive producer of all World Awards television shows since 2000. He was Chairman of World Awards Media GmbH Europe and World Awards Media USA Inc. Since 2016 Georg Kindel is the CEO of ooom Holding in Vienna, Austria. OOOM is a lifestyle brand that aims to inspire people and includes digital platforms, a PR, communications, and advertising agency (OOOM AGENCY), and a publishing house, all based in Vienna, Austria. Kindel is publisher and editor in chief of OOOM magazine, a leading lifestyle magazine focused on pioneers, visionaries, and inspirational leaders, which is available on newsstands in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. In 2016, Kindel founded and established OOOM 100, a ranking of the World's Most Inspiring People who are selected annually by an international jury. The list is published each year in OOOM magazine's December issue.
