The only son of a Black and Asian mother and African father, he began his career producing commercials and music videos for underground bands distributed in Canada, Germany, and the United Kingdom. His father was a member of the United States Air Force and his mother worked as an office manager. At the age of 14, his father introduced him to the world of photography. He eventually became interested in film production.
