In Beaches, Mountains, Paris, Rome, the protagonist is a heartbroken young woman who uses her mastery of social media to convince friends and family that she's gone on a globetrotting holiday. In Polymer, the video conference is the imperfect and unreliable medium in which the characters must attempt to solve a life or death crisis.
