Alexandra Hidalgo is a documentary filmmaker whose work deals with women-centered themes, such as breast implants and the lives of female immigrants in the United States. She was born in Caracas, Venezuela and immigrated to the United States when she was 16 years old. Hidalgo is Assistant Professor of Writing, Rhetoric, and American Cultures at Michigan State University, where she teaches filmmaking, digital humanities, and professional writing courses. Besides making documentary films, she also writes about the filmmaking process and about adaptations of popular books into film, such as the Harry Potter and Twilight series.
