Paris born & New York raised, Turkish-Italian Writer/Director Flavia Casà has a BFA in filmmaking from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. During her time there, her short film Fragile Forms (starring Broad City's Arturo Castro) received the Gucci Award for Women in Cinema Scholarship. After graduating, she worked for auteurs Cédric Klapisch, Noah Baumbach, and Academy Award-winning Director of Photography, Emmanuel Lubezki. After writing and directing a portfolio of award-winning short films that gained recognition internationally, Flavia's first feature film, Beautiful in the Morning, premiered and opened LA Femme International Film Festival, where Flavia was a finalist for Best Feature Writer. Throughout the festival circuit, the film received 4 Awards (Best UK Actress, Best UK Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Feature), and another 3 nominations for Best Feature, Best Cinematography, and Best Music. The script was top 15% of the prestigious Academy Nicholl Fellowship. Flavia currently splits her time between NYC and London, freelancing as a video producer and running an online youth film school. She is currently in development on her second feature film, a modernisation of Beauty & the Beast, about a couple who breaks free from their co-dependent bond. Having spent much of her childhood in different corners of the globe, Flavia always struggled with the elusive notion of "home" and often explores the idea of belonging in her work.
