Brandon Ogborn

Brandon Paul Ogborn is an American playwright, screenwriter, producer and journalist. A Michigan native, Ogborn studied filmmaking in college in Santa Barbara, California, before moving to Chicago to perform improvisational theatre at Annoyance Theatre, The Second City and i.O., (formerly Improv Olympics). He appeared with the Harold teams Hindenburg, The Moon, Sports Team, and the sketch comedy group, The Evidence. He also wrote and directed several short films which appeared in The Chicago Comedy Film Festival and auditioned for Saturday Night Live. While in Chicago, Ogborn authored and starred in the critically acclaimed docu-comedy-play The TomKat Project, which deconstructed the tabloid coverage of Scientology's role in Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' divorce. The original cast had a lengthy, sold-out run in Chicago before being featured in the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival, at The New York International Fringe Festival and sold-out runs in Los Angeles. Theatre companies around the United States have since performed TomKat. Ogborn co-created and co-starred in the award-winning web-series Young Couple, which airs exclusively on Vimeo. Ogborn's feature-length screenplay, about Oprah Winfrey's early years as a broadcaster in Baltimore, is in development with Emjag Pictures. His documentary podcast, Telephone Stories: The Trial of Michael Jackson, which tells the story of the singer's scandals from the perspectives of both the prosecutors and Jackson's own lawyers, was released on the Luminary App in 2019 and made international news for its achievements in investigative reporting. His newest play, House Church, explores modern Christianity, gun violence and mental health. Ogborn is represented by Mosaic and Verve.
