Born and raised outside of San Francisco, CA, and the eldest of three siblings, Collins' early acting efforts landed her at the American Conservatory Theatre (A.C.T.). This artistic opportunity provided her the educational foundation that would become the stepping stone to her life in the Arts. Her God-given talents combined with the privilege to master acting and stagecraft under the tutelage of seasoned veterans, earned her several roles during her career. Her earliest theatrical performance included portraying "Lorelle" in Dream Girls and "Pam" in Misery Loves Company, both 2009 productions at Black Repertory Group Theater. In 2010, Collins was cast as "Tonisha" in The Postwoman, a film by JD Walker. The script earned an Honorable Mention in The Sundance Table Read My Screenplay Contest. Collins made her directorial debut with the sold out, self-produced stage play, The V Monologues: A Black Woman's Interpretation (October 2013). Inspired by Eve Ensler's original work The Vagina Monologues, Collins' off Broadway adaptation chronicled the lives of various African-American women and their struggles to break generational chains and misogynistic falsehoods. Former Channel 5 News Anchor Dana King was cast as the lead. Knocking At Love's Door (April 2014), a riveting love story of a single mother who finds love when she least expects it, marked Collins' second successful sold-out stage play. Collins followed up with her third stage play Girlfriend Chronicles (June 2014), a mind-blowing, whirlwind of secrets, lies and deception between four women which tests the limits of their friendships. Collins' fourth stage play Cold Piece of Werk (March 2015) is the story of 17-year-old Midnight, who gets "caught up" in the sex trafficking industry in East Oakland. Midnight is a troubled girl who navigates her way through this tumultuous life. The Question Is: How did she get caught up, and is she able to escape the game and survive? With the resounding success of the launch of Tracie Collins Productions and her unique body of work that has drawn audiences and fans from the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond, Collins has already lined up a slew of productions which are in development for 2016. She is on the forefront of the arts and entertainment industry. Her ability to draw from the many changes happening in Oakland, CA, allows her to write, direct and produce entertainment that opens a forum for dialogue and self-awareness. Collins currently resides in Oakland, CA, and is the proud mother of three beautiful children.
