Kenny Leu is an up-and-coming actor, quickly becoming one of the leading Asian American performers in the industry. He is best known for his role as Zhu Xuesan in Roland Emmerich's Midway (2019), and Sgt. Eddie Chen in NatGeo's The Long Road Home (2017). He is recognized worldwide as Gohan, from viral hit Dragon Ball Z: Light of Hope (2014) (34 million views). Born in Taipei, but raised in the Bay Area of Northern California, Kenny excelled in academics and sports. He attended UC Berkeley, majoring in Mechanical Engineering and Chinese. It was also at Berkeley where he began his long career as a martial artist: he competed all over the world when he was selected to join the United States Wushu team, winning at the Pan-American Wushu Championship in Mexico (2012). After graduating, Kenny began working in Silicon Valley, co-founding two venture-backed tech startups that paid off, allowing him to transition into film and television. He quickly landed guest roles on series such as NCIS (2003), NCIS: Los Angeles (2009), and The Player (2015), using his martial arts background to perform his own stunts. Kenny was recently invited to appear on the popular Chinese series "The Impossible", working in international television as well. His episode reached #8 most popular in China. Kenny's breakout lead role will be in the independent feature A Shot Through the Wall (2021) by Aimee Long. He plays a young Asian-American cop who is responsible for accidentally shooting and killing an innocent Black man, through a wall. The film tackles a topic that is dangerously relevant in 2020, and it is Kenny's "quiet tumult [that] roots the film". Early reviews glow: "... compelling [in] the way indie filmmaking can be at its best." (Awards Daily). The feature film has already been accepted to the Bentonville Film Festival, with more to come. Another upcoming project is Yakuza Princess, the much-anticipated Japanese-Brazilian adaptation from Marvel writer Danilo Beyruth and director Vicente Amorim. Kenny was invited to join a star-studded international cast: Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Tsuyoshi Ihara, and newcomer singer-songwriter MASUMI. Kenny plays the mysterious Taxi Driver, performing all of his own stunts and even some of his own choreography. The film will release in early 2021. With a leading man's looks but a character actor's talent, Kenny's unique presence is paired with a natural charisma and relatability that transcends the screen, regardless of genre or medium. He continues to train extensively in martial arts and stunt work, in addition to television and theatrical performance.
