Vic Cabrera is a writer, director and producer with a strong background in the entertainment industry. Born in Cuba, Vic and his family immigrated to the United States when he was seven years old, eventually settling in Hoboken, New Jersey - where he replaced any trace of his Cuban accent with a Jersey one. He speaks fluent Spanish and attended NYU's esteemed film school where he earned a degree in film and television with an emphasis in psychology. Vic recently concluded 20 years at NBC/KNBC where he was a Staff Director and worked on a number of live and taped shows. Vic is President of Cabrera Productions, a company dedicated to producing and distributing books, movies, television, radio, Internet, and theater. His book, My Cuban Story - Funny Memories from Serious Times... is available in paperback, Kindle, and Audio Book. There is also a Music soundtrack. The tale begins with the Cabrera family in Cuba during the revolution, their escape to Spain, then New York, and finally, their assimilation in Hoboken. The Big Deal, is a movie set in a bar & grill in Manhattan - a place where not everybody knows your name, but everybody does know your business - Cabrera wrote, produced and directed the movie. He has the bible for the sitcom with story lines for five seasons. ComedyWebChannel.com features sketches called Comic-toons with additional fun features coming soon. Now in development is the Spanish version called CanalDeLaComedia.com. On the company's rich development slate are two screenplays: Summer Ball is a multi-cultural, coming of age family story, of three teen girls set against the background of a softball team. Mr. & Mrs. Destiny at the Jersey Shore, is an absurdest romp set in the world of game shows and reality TV. Vic created and co-wrote, in Spanish, the bible for La Extranjera en America - the story of a young singer who is forced to escape her small town, overcoming the drama and pain of the immigrant journey and eventually succeeding in America. With 17 original songs composed by Henry Iglesias, the bible is designed to be a novella for television, Internet and radio, also, as a music soundtrack, a Broadway-style theatrical musical, and a feature film. For the stage, Vic is work-shopping three evenings of theater he calls A Trilogy of Comedies for the Stage: They're My Stories and I'm Sticking to 'em - four one-act plays and a monologue; Mr. & Mrs. Destiny at the Jersey Shore - an absurdest romp about love, chance & reality TV; and The Fix-A-Thon - an adult relationship comedy about past perceptions, present realities and future opportunities. Vic is a member of the Directors Guild of America (1993) - a co-founder, past president, and current Vice President, of the Alameda Writers Group (AWG) - and member of the New Playwrights Foundation and First Stage. The father of two adult daughters, Vic participated in all aspects of his girls' upbringing - from chauffeur to teacher, rule-maker and coach. A committed family man, his writings reflect his values and experiences as a husband and a father. An observer of the comedy in the human condition, and the relationships that make it all worthwhile, Vic's writing is rich in character and stories written from the heart.
