Alan McQueen has almost 30 years experience working with important and influential film companies in the UK. He joined Palace Pictures, headed by Nik Powell and Steve Woolley. Palace were the most inventive, independent company. Working on such titles as Company of Wolves, The Crying Game, Absolute Beginners, Nikita, The Killer, Jean de Florette,Manon des Sources, Cinema Paradiso etc. Alan was invited by 20th Century Fox to establish the UK's first specialised film label, Fox World Cinema, which was designed to distribute US/UK independent and world cinema titles and provided releasing services to distributors including Artificial Eye and Electric Pictures. releases included such classics as Tokyo Story, Heimat,Delicatessen, Clerks, Hidden etc.. He later founded Downtown Pictures which established itself with acquisitions such as Spike Lee's "Summer of Sam" the Ian McKellen starrer "Gods & Monsters" and the Peter Mullan directed "Orphans". Following this he was Commercial Director for World Cinema Ltd. a distribution joint venture of Tartan Films, Artificial Eye, Soda Pictures, TLA, Pathe (World Cinema) Alan has produced/Exec.producer Fathers of Girls starring Ray Winstone and The Blue Black Hussar (a documentary feature about Adam Ant directed by Jack Bond). His love of writing has seen two novels published (The Summervale Volunteers and The Self Preservation Society). Alan is a currently a founder partner in The Thing Is... Ltd, a production and management company, together with Chris Johnson.
