Growing up Deaf in 90's Harlem, New York City, Jeremy "JLS" was forced into a mainstream education where he was a bridge between the hearing and deaf pupils. He has continued in this spirit of bridging worlds as one of NYC's foremost American Sign Language teachers and a key figure in the Deaf community, while also recently taking on the journey of adopting hearing aids. He performs American Sign Language poetry, and his success in this field has fuelled a desire to pursue acting. Having tutored actors from both theater and film, he was recently asked to appear in Darius Marder's SOUND OF METAL.
