Biography

Frederico Machado is a Brazilian filmmaker, producer, and film critic whose career integrates creation, distribution, and exhibition. In 2006, he founded Lume Filmes, a production company dedicated to author cinema, which later expanded into film distribution across home video, theatrical releases, VOD, and television. Through Lume, Machado brought works by international filmmakers such as Luis Buñuel, David Lynch, and Yasujiro Ozu to Brazilian audiences. His own films have received more than one hundred international awards and have been screened at festivals including Huesca, Cartagena, Dresden, and São Paulo. He also created the Lume International Film Festival, owns several movie theaters in Brazil, and serves on the National Council of ANCINE.
