Nick Canfield

Nick Canfield is a Director and Cinematographer from New York City. He got his start working alongside legendary documentary filmmaker Albert Maysles, where he developed an intimate vérité style. His camera work can be seen in documentaries such as Iris, The Fifty Year Argument, Born to Fly, In Transit, and Making a Murderer; and has premiered at festivals including Sundance, the New York Film Festival, and Tribeca. Working on the camera teams for a range of projects, he has enjoyed the opportunity to learn from a diverse group of subjects and filmmakers. His first feature film The Reverend premiered at DOC NYC where it won the 2021 Audience Award. Distributed by Factory 25, the film screened in theaters around the country including IFC Center, Nitehawk, Austin Film Society, and Alamo Drafthouse. Nick was named one of DOC NYC's 40 Filmmakers Under 40 in 2022.
