Brian Maurer

Brian Maurer was born in Moreno Valley, California on September 25 of 1982. He lived in Blue Springs, Missouri as a child, and attended the University of Missouri at Columbia for both undergrad (English) and master's (Education). His interest in writing and filmmaking came shortly after his BA. He began his writing career as editor of a flash fiction E-zine, 6 Minute Magazine, and began his film career shortly after, focusing primarily on short films, audio capture, audio engineering, and editing. It wasn't until he wrote and directed his first feature in 2009, that he considered filmmaking his career. Since in 2010, Brian has served as writer, director, and producer to dozens of short films, and several feature films. Both narrative and documentary. Brian serves as the Director of Film Production at the University of Missouri, teaching courses year round in directing, cinematography, screenwriting, and producing. He focuses his time on large scale projects during the summer intersessions, working with both fictional and documentary content.
