Born in Minot, North Dakota, Doug is the youngest child in a family of five. His father was a KC-135 navigator in the U.S. Air Force before moving to other active duty roles, and his mother was mainly a homemaker. In Doug's time the family was stationed at McConnell AFB in Wichita, KS and Maxwell AFB in Montgomery, AL. Most of his formative years were spent in Kansas. He moved to Florida with his first wife in 2001 and together they have a son. Though he always had a propensity for performing, Doug became interested in acting during high school and went on to study theatre at Emporia State University. After moving to Florida he got involved with community theatre where he has played a wide variety of roles, leading and supporting, in everything from musicals to hard dramas. Highlights include Stanley Kowalski in "A Streetcar Named Desire," Nick in "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" Freddy in "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels," Hamlet, Mr. Banks in "Mary Poppins," and David Frost in "Frost Nixon." Doug has also trained in stage combat and martial arts, putting those skills to use as a combat actor for the Sarasota Medieval Fair.
