Timur Ismailov

Timur Ismailov was born on May 23, 1977 in Baku (Azerbaijan), where he also grew up. He studied social and political sciences at Azerbaijan University. In 1996 he moved to Kaliningrad (Russia), where he studied economics, management and philosophy; he also wrote songs and performed them. In 2004 he enrolled at NFTA (Netherlands Film and Television academy), faculty of screenwriting. After almost three years, he switched from screenwriting to directing fiction. His graduation film "Bingo" was screened at more than 60 festivals all over the world, winning 18 awards. After the graduation, Timur Ismailov worked as a script editor and dialogue writer with a cult Dutch film director Jos Stelling. Besides he wrote several feature film screenplays and directed several shorts and a middle length feature film "Above and Below".
