Lolita Files is a writer, producer (stage, film, television, and video), director, and the bestselling author of six novels ("Scenes From A Sistah," "Getting To The Good Part," "Blind Ambitions," "Child of God," "Tastes Like Chicken," and "sex.lies.murder.fame."), a novella, several short stories, and has co-authored and ghostwritten several works of nonfiction, including New York Times bestsellers. Her novel "Child of God," a perennial book club favorite, is part of the reading curriculum at high schools and universities across the country, including being the basis for a comparative study course between Files' book and Shakespeare's "Hamlet" taught at SUNY Empire State College in New York. "Child of God" is in development as a limited series for television with Files adapting, directing, and executive producing. Her novel "sex.lies.murder.fame." is being developed for film by Byron Allen's Entertainment Studios with the screenplay adapted by Files. The award-winning book "Once Upon A Time In Compton" - written by Files and former Compton gang unit detectives Timothy Brennan and Robert Ladd about Brennan and Ladd's time in the Compton police department through the rise of gangsta rap and gang wars, and their in-depth involvement in the investigations of the murders of Tupac Shakur and the Notorious B.I.G. - is being developed for television. Files produced, and starred in the five-part docuseries Who Killed Tupac? - an unprecedented no-stone-unturned investigation into the murder of hip-hop artist/actor/poet/activist Tupac Shakur, headed by America's leading civil rights attorney, Benjamin Crump. The series premiered on A&E in November 2017. During the investigation, Files uncovered an explosive confidential task force document showing the LAPD had found and authenticated the murder weapon, but chose not to disclose the information to the Las Vegas Police Department in charge of the case, nor to the public. The series is available on-demand across A&E's platforms and airs throughout the world. Files has been featured in the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, New York Post, Miami Herald, Chicago Tribune, Essence, Ebony, Cosmopolitan, Glamour, Ms. Magazine, and more, and has made numerous appearances on national and local television, cable, radio, entertainment, and web-based programs.
