Rhym Guisse is a Los Angeles-based actor, screenwriter, and producer. Rhym - pronounced 'reem' - was born in the North African country of Algeria to an Algerian mother and a father from the West African country of Mali. She grew up in various countries, including the Ivory Coast and France before moving to Louisiana to study at the prestigious Baton Rouge Magnet, known for its award-winning performing arts curriculum. She went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in professional writing from Kutztown University. Upon graduation, Rhym completed a communications internship at the United Nations and later worked for the Philadelphia Tribune, America's oldest newspaper serving the African-American community. Rhym has gone on to build a prolific career in the entertainment industry and has worked in casting, physical production, creative development, and as a performer. Her producing credits include commercial work for Spotify, Apple, Google, Visa, and the NFL. As an actress Rhym has a decade of experience in film, television and theatre. Her credits include ABC's How to Get Away With Murder and Miller Center for the Arts' production of Lynn Nottage's Ruined. As a screenwriter and creator, Rhym is passionate about stories that empowers and celebrates black women from Africa and the diaspora. Rhym's work has been a Screenplay Semifinalist at the Atlanta Film Festival, and a Diverse Voices official Screenplay Selection. She is currently developing her debut feature. She is also contributor for Ms. in the Biz magazine, discussing her experiences as a woman of color in the film and television industry. Rhym continues to seek roles that challenge her as an African/Arab, immigrant, woman, and as an artist.
