The youngest son of a plumber and journalist, Jonas Holt grew up in Sydney, Australia. In 1985 the family of four made a trip around Australia and relocated in Karratha, Western Australia where Jonas began singing, acting and learned the guitar. In 1992 he was the lead singer of the high school band and played the lead part in the school theatre production of 'No Ill Feeling' In 1994, Jonas moved to Perth, and began winning live comedy and impersonation contests on radio and appeared in Hey Hey, It's Saturday's Red Faces Contest. By 1997 Jonas was working professionally as a stand up comedian and started entertaining at children's birthday parties.
