Writer, Producer, Director - Mason was born in 1974 in Richmond, Virginia and spent many years on the family farm alongside the James River before moving to Charlotte, North Carolina. He graduated from Charlotte Latin School, a private institution where he distinguished himself as a short story writer, a College scholarship soccer player and an active Habitat for Humanity volunteer. Mason moved to Los Angeles in 2000 and began to pursue his true passion as a filmmaker. Graduating from New York Film Academy in late 2003, Mason wrote, produced and directed many short projects and films, including TRAPPED (a short film), THE WAY HOME (a short film) and his thesis short film BEYOND THE RIVER, which is the short that was later renamed to EDGEWATER, which is in development with Gravity Squared Entertainment as well. His first feature film THE PARANORMAL DISAPPEARANCE OF AILYN JESICK was released in 2010 and was picked as an Official Selection at the 2013 Cape Fear Independent Film Festival. He also just completed a short film entitled THE PAINTER, which was inspired by EDGEWATER. Mason is a distant nephew of Douglas Southall Freeman, Pulitzer Prize Author of "Lee's Lieutenants" and Grandson of G. Mallory Freeman, award winning actor of the Virginia stage.
